Penjualan Motor Menurun di Inggris

Sebanyak 7.020 motor baru teregistrasi bulan Agustus sesuai yang dikeluarkan Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) di Inggris, kemarin. Angka ini menambah total sepeda motor hingga Agustus tercatat 79.897 unit, dan turun 18,2% dibanding tahun lalu keseluruhan dan sebanyak 30,5% ketimbang Agustus 2008.

Dari total penjualan tersebut, Touring bike,Sport Touring dan Naked bike tetap menjadi primadona pada bulan Agustus dengan menunjukan grafik permintaan yang menonjol. Penurunan angka ini disebabkan karena sebagian orang menunggu hingga September sampai keluarnya model baru. Di antara model yang laku di pasarn, motor dengan kapasitas besar tetap mendominasi penjualan dibandingkan dengan mesin cc kecil. Penjualan skutik turun 39,8% pada Agustus 2009 dibandingkan September tahun lalu, di mana permintaan pada moge di atas 1000 cc hanya turun 13%.

Data dari Department for Transport's National Travel Survey menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari setengah (52%) sepeda motor di tahun 2008 digunakan untuk tujuan perjalanan, dibandingkan dengan hanya sepertiga (34%) yang menggunakan sepeda dan seperlima (22%) memakai mobil. Survei tersebut juga menemukan bahwa sepeda motor dipakai sebagai alat transportasi utama lebih dari sepertiga total perjalanan, dalam seminggu sebanyak delapan kali, dengan jarak tempuh 80 mil.

Guinness Book of World Records for Largest Parade of Automatic Motorcycles

Khun Dan Prakarnchon Dam, NAKHON NAYOK, 8 August 2009 – A non-stop Rock and Hip Hop outdoor music concert started from 14:00 on the Saturday afternoon right up until 03:00 in the wee hours of Sunday morning with Bands and Musicians entertaining the crowd amongst them namely the Art Floor, Blackhead, Buddha Bless, Causeway Bay, Clash, Flure, Hangman, J Jetrin, Joey Boy, Noi Pru, Paradox, Silly Fool, Slot Machine, The Paper, and The Sun.

But the highlight is not just the outdoor concert but the attempt to be inscribed as the “Largest Parade of Automatic Motorcycles” into the “Guinness Book of World Records” with about 2,474 one-make Yamaha FINO automatic scooters lining up on top of the 2.5 kilometre Khun Dan Prakarnchon Dam. A feat as huge as the longest concrete dam in the world, which the Khun Dan Prakarnchon Dam holds.

The whole district of Sarika precisely and Nakhon Nayok Province were overwhelmed with the Yamaha FINO automatic motorcycles with organisers saying that more than 13,000 have registered with the various clubs and dealers to descend down to the event. The FINO phenomenon has swept the young who are owners of this lifestyle motorcycle. Food were arranged to feed the participants, music played non-stop while the helicopter hovers above for that great opportunity of a great photo-shoot, and the police force to keep order and until the end of the event nothing untoward happened.

Finally at 17:30, it was announced by the official from the Guinness World Records that the feat was achieved bettering the previous record of 1,500 motorcycles. It was a great achievement despite the gloom economic climate at the moment. This record will stay for quite a considerable time.
